Patriots Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Era with Win Over Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
New England equaled their best victory streak from the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the home team responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third period to make it 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
