Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil
The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as announced by the royal household.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.
The King and Prince were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
The King has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the UN meeting.
Royal sources have characterized Prince William's attendance at the next COP as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.
This participation involved presentations in concert with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Earthshot Awards Connection
The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he participates in the climate conference on 6 November.
Recently the royal figure described the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".
Monarch's Environmental Record
The King has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats facing us over global warming, climate change and species extinction," the monarch informed attendees.
